Orzhov Pixie just cracked Tier 3 of the Bo1 Standard meta this week — a brand-new arrival that drops blue from the Esper Pixie shell and adds hardcore Mono Black disruption. Two percent meta share might sound small, but this deck punches well above its weight when piloted correctly.

Featured Card: Nurturing Pixie

1 mana 1/1 Flying Faerie Rogue. When it enters, return a non-Faerie, nonland permanent you control to your hand. If you returned something, put a +1/+1 counter on the Pixie.

Why this is the engine: every enchantment in this deck has a powerful enters-the-battlefield trigger. The Pixie picks them up so you can re-cast them — turning enchantments into reusable sorceries while building a 4/4 flying clock by turn 5.

Strategy Guide

Early Game (Turns 1-2)

  • Turn 1: Hopeless Nightmare or Grim Bauble. Nightmare is the dream — opponent discards two, and the saga pops for 3 damage when bounced.
  • Turn 2: Nurturing Pixie + bounce your turn-1 enchantment. Replay it, trigger again, leave Pixie at 2/2 flying.

Mid Game (Turns 3-4)

  • Turn 3 wants Liliana of the Veil — discards force-strip with Nightmare on board.
  • Turn 4: Temporary Lockdown wipes mice/prowess/everything 2-mana-or-less.
  • Unholy Annex spawns demons and flips to a free-demons land.

Late Game (Turns 5+)

  • Soulstone Sanctuary recurs your dead Pixies — engine never dies.
  • Restless Fortress is a 3/3 flying lifelink closer.
  • Loran of the Third Path is creature AND artifact/enchantment removal.

Win Conditions & Combos

  • Nurturing Pixie + Hopeless Nightmare loop: bounce/replay, strip 1 card per loop, build a 4/4+ flier.
  • Liliana of the Veil ultimate (-6) sweeps the table.
  • Tinybones Joins Up turns every discard trigger into card draw for you.

Budget Notes

Premium build cost (paper): ~$320-$380. The Liliana of the Veil playset is your biggest line item.

  • Liliana of the Veil → 3 extra Hopeless Nightmare or Vraska, Betrayal's Sting.
  • Restless Fortress → 2 Castle Locthwain + 1 basic Plains.
  • Bleachbone Verge / Caves of Koilos → Shattered Sanctum.
  • Tinybones Joins Up → 1 extra Grim Bauble.
  • Soulstone Sanctuary → basics. Recursion is gravy.

Best on MTG Arena? Yes — the deck plays fewer mythics than Mono Black or Esper Pixie and is heavy on commons/uncommons. Liliana is the only mythic in volume.
