Ominous symbols are painting the skies of Rathe, and veteran Flesh & Blood players know exactly what that means — a new set is about to hit, and this one is cracking with Lightning. Omens of the Third Age (set code OMN) is Legend Story Studios’ next standalone booster release, and it is shaping up to be one of the most hyped drops of the year. If you have been waiting for a good reason to get back into the game, or you have been curious about Flesh & Blood for a while now, this is the on-ramp.
What Is Omens of the Third Age?
For anyone new to Flesh & Blood: the game is a premium, skill-intensive TCG where each player picks a hero (think planeswalker meets pro wrestler) and battles in a duel of attacks, blocks, and reactions. No mana screw, no combo-out-of-nowhere — it is almost entirely about the decisions you make with the cards you already hold. Sets come out roughly three times a year, and Omens is the 18th release.
Omens of the Third Age is a standalone booster set, meaning the set is designed to support Booster Draft and Sealed Deck on its own, which makes it a fantastic entry point for brand-new players and a great limited-format playground for veterans. It is 251 cards deep (1 Fabled, 12 Marvel, 5 Legendary, 37 Majestic, 60 Rare, 134 Common, 14 Basic), and the theme is all about Lightning — every hero in the set taps into the same elemental talent.

Meet the Three Heroes
Rather than one headlining hero, Omens gives us three Lightning heroes — one Runeblade, one Illusionist, and one Wizard. Story-wise, Aurora and Oscilio journey to the Auric Keep inside the Nebulus Rift to enlist the help of Zyggy Starlight. Together, they must harness the Lightning Flow and face whatever is creeping back from the Third Age.
Aurora (Runeblade) — Legacy of Tempest

The fan-favorite Lightning Runeblade is back, and she is bringing her signature go-fast gameplan with a few stunning new tricks. Aurora pilots like an attack helicopter — she lines up fast, efficient arcane-boosted swings and closes games before opponents can stabilize. She is still just as fun as you remember, only now she is tempered by a bit more responsibility.
Zyggy Starlight (Illusionist) — The First Lightning Illusionist

This is a first in Flesh & Blood history: an Illusionist hero with the Lightning talent. Zyggy flashes their auras in and out of play as reality fragments around them — expect tricky, tempo-denying gameplay that feels totally different from anything the class has done before. If you want to get your hands on Zyggy day-one without opening a box, the Armory Deck: Zyggy hits shelves May 29, 2026 as a full ready-to-play Classic Constructed deck.
Oscilio (Wizard) — Forked Continuum

After being shattered in battle, Oscilio is reformed by the sacrifice of Aurora’s blade, Star Fall, and he is back as an amped-up cosmic force. His gameplan is pure Wizard joy — Lightning-speed arcane damage combos that pile up fast and hit like a freight train. Wizard fans, this is the hero you have been waiting for.
The New Mechanic: Lightning Flow
The set-defining mechanic is the Lightning Flow token. All three heroes create and destroy these tokens to power their most explosive plays. The tension is great on paper — you want to stockpile Lightning Flow to unleash bigger turns, but destroying them is exactly what triggers your biggest payoffs, so sitting on them too long means missing out. Expect Booster Draft and Sealed to feel utterly electric, with a cadence of building storms, spending them, and racing your opponent to outpace theirs.
Key Dates to Circle
- World Premiere — Prague, May 22–24, 2026: The first Calling of the set. Players share a $20,000 prize pool, and anyone who makes the trip gets to experience Sealed and Booster Draft in Omens before the rest of the planet.
- Pre-release — May 29, 2026: Your local shop opens boxes early so you can try the new heroes, draft the set, and walk away with fresh cards.
- In Stores — June 5, 2026: Official global release. Boosters, Blitz decks, and the Armory Deck: Zyggy all hit shelves.
Why You Should Care
Three heroes sharing one talent is a bold design choice, and it is what makes Omens of the Third Age so exciting for draft and sealed — every seat at the table is fighting over the same Lightning pool, which means picks matter in a way they simply do not in mixed-talent sets. For Classic Constructed players, a new Aurora alone would be a massive event, so getting her, a brand-new archetype in Zyggy, AND a reborn Oscilio in one release is a pretty wild pitch. This is one of the best “jump in now” moments Flesh & Blood has had in years.
